New Heads of Mission to Vilnius, Damascus and Buenos Aires
The President of the Republic appointed today, 9 February, the following Ambassadors:
Counsellor for Foreign Affairs Harri Mäki-Reinikka as Head of the Embassy of Finland in Vilnius, Lithuania, from 1 January 2013.
Mäki-Reinikka will move to Vilnius from Damascus, Syria, where he has served as the Ambassador of Finland to Syria, Lebanon, Iraq and Jordan since 2008. He joined the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in 1986 and has served in the Political Department, Department for External Economic Relations, and Administrative Department as well as in the Division for Europe. Mäki-Reinikka has also served as Director of the Secretariat for Nordic Cooperation and deputised the Minister for Nordic Cooperation.
In the Diplomatic Service, Mäki-Reinikka has served in Paris, Alger and London. In the Permanent Mission of Finland in Geneva, Mäki-Reinikka served as Minister-Counsellor from 2000 to 2005.
Counsellor for Foreign Affairs Kari Kahiluoto as Head of the Embassy of Finland in Damascus, Syria, from 1 January 2013. The Finnish mission in Syria is responsible for Finland’s representation also in Lebanon, Iraq and Jordan.
Kahiluoto will move to Syria from the Ministry for Foreign Affairs where he has served as Deputy Head of the UN Security Council Campaign Task Force. Prior to this, he held the position of Ambassador for Human Rights and Democracy in the Ministry. Kahiluoto has served, among other things, as Head of the Unit for Arms Control.
In the Diplomatic Service, Kahiluoto has served in Bonn and Beijing, as Minister in the Mission of Finland to NATO, and as Finland’s Permanent Representative to the Conference on Disarmament (CD) in Geneva. Kahiluoto joined the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in 1986.
Counsellor for Foreign Affairs Jukka Siukosaari as Head of the Embassy of Finland in Buenos Aires, Argentina from 1 September 2012.
Siukosaari joined the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in 1995, and currently serves as Head of the Unit for Northern Europe in the Department for Europe. He has served, among other things, as Head of the Unit for International Environment Policy in the Department for Global Affairs, in the Political Department and in the Department for Communications and Culture.
In the Diplomatic Service, Siukosaari has served in Dublin, Rome, Pretoria and London.
