Minister Stubb: Finnish enterprises have excellent potential for internationalization

Minister for European Affairs and Foreign Trade Alexander Stubb presented the potential of SMEs for internationalization at Yritystä Stadiin! event.

Jone Nikula interviewed Minister for European Affairs and Foreign Trade Alexander Stubb on the potential of SMEs for internationalization at Yritystä Stadiin! event. Organized by the Entrepreneurs of Helsinki on 8 May, the event offered summarized information about entrepreneurship.

Minister Stubb underlined the potential of Finnish enterprises for internationalization. Our legislation is entrepreneur-friendly; it is in support of tax privileges for innovation and business angels. While having plans for entering foreign markets, each company should be aware of the ongoing export promotion activities. During the latest export promotion trip in Turkey, for example, the delegation had the opportunity of visiting ten local ministers.

To highlight the importance of internationalization of SMEs, there will be an export promotion event targeted to SMEs next autumn. At the event, enterprises will be encouraged to give feedback and suggestions on how the government could promote internationalization.

Minister Stubb pointed out that 40 percent of the Finnish GDP comes for exports. Currently, 29 percent of Finnish SMEs have export activities, so there's room for growth.
