The 2017 Human Rights Call for Proposals is open: Preventing discrimination in development and promoting the right to health of women and girls
The Unit for Human Rights Policy at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland launches a Call for Proposals for international non-governmental organizations (INGOs).The Call focuses on promoting human rights and preventing discrimination in development and promoting the implementation of the right to health of women and girls. The deadline for proposals is Friday the 14h of July 2017 (at 16:15 Finnish time, GMT+3, i.e. note daylight saving time).
Preventing discrimination in development, promoting the rights of women and girls and promoting the implementation of economic social and cultural rights (ESCR) are among human rights foreign policy priorities as well as objectives in the development policy of Finland.
Finland takes a human rights based approach to development. This year the Human Rights Call for Proposals focuses on preventing and addressing discrimination in development, with a priority on persons with disabilities, LGTBI persons or innovative proposals which address discrimination on multiple or intersectional grounds. On the ESCR agenda, capacity building and advocacy for the implementation of the right to health of women and girls is highlighted as a priority in this year’s call.
The Human Rights Call for Proposals for INGOs are opened annually or biannually by the Unit for Human Rights Policy, depending on the availability of funding, and the specific focus area is determined for each call separately. The focus of the previous call in 2016 was support for the work of human rights defenders and for addressing impunity for human rights violations.
