Implementation of development cooperation

Development cooperation means the practical work that is undertaken with the aim of improving the position of developing countries. It is implemented as country- and region-specific cooperation and multilateral cooperation.

Part of the multilateral funds are channelled through the European Union.

Furthermore Finland gives humanitarian assistance to people suffering because of natural disasters and armed conflicts.

The work of non-governmental organisations (NGOs) is an important part of Finland’s development cooperation.
